Since 2012, Genu Berlo has been practicing in his own artist studio in Bucharest. Considered an outsider, his work is based on a philosophy of eclectic abstraction and material painting.

An American artist of Romanian heritage, born in 1975, Genu’s studies include fine arts at the Fashion Institute of Technology, NYC, architecture and mathematics at the University of Bucharest. For over a decade he worked as design architect for NYC architectural firms, including Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. With solo shows and group exhibitions at galleries such as Vimana, Palatul Brancovenesc Mogosoaia, Atelier030202, Galeriile Grumazescu, Contempora and Orion in Bucharest and other Romanian cities, his work can be found in private collections in US, Canada, Europe, Switzerland, Romania, Australia and Japan, and the public collection of the National Museum of Maps in Bucharest.

“I look at painting as substantial improbability, magical nonsense and natural philosophy; a bit like dividing a non-zero number to the zero power by zero” -Genu Berlo
