Daniel Stancu, Longboard ,"Entering the Heavens", 2020, tempera, wood board, metal and rubber, 100x22 cm
Through his work, Daniel Stancu questions the contemporary prejudice of the metaphysical and theological, and the relation of the personal to the local culture. His metaphorical, comic sometimes concepts, occur at the edge of the material and mystic, whereas mundane objects can connect cosmic and natural meaning.
He is a Romanian artist living and working between Bucharest and Râmnicu Vâlcea, his place of birth in 1977. Graduating from the “Luceafarul” Art Academy in Bucharest in 2002, under professors Nistor Coita and Petru Lucaci, he sustains a constant practice, with solo and group shows in Belgium, Korea and Romania. He is privately collected in countries like the UK, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, US, South Korea, Greece, Latvia and Switzerland.
