Genu Berlo, obviously fascinated with line, color and space, is yet known for the synaestheticlly expressive nature of his work, that articulates sensorial meaning to thought currents from broad historic records and his private life.
Born in 1975, he is an American artist of Romanian heritage, who lives and works in New York City and Bucharest. His studies include fine arts at the Fashion Institute of Technology, NYC, architecture and mathematics at the University of Bucharest. For over a decade he worked as design architect for NYC architectural firms, including Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. Since 2012, Genu Berlo has been painting in his own artist studio in Bucharest, and has been the subject of solo shows and group exhibitions at galleries such as VIMANA, Palatul Brancovenesc Mogosoaia, Atelier030202, Galeriile Grumazescu, Contempora and Orion in Bucharest and other Romanian cities. His work can be found in private collections in US, Canada, Europe, Switzerland, Romania, Australia and Japan, and the public collection of the National Museum of Maps in Bucharest.
